Heart
‘Heart’ is hand-sculpted clay.
The sculptor Deborah Gall creates the heart with her hands from stoneware clay. Once formed, she passes the wet clay to Jessica, whom she mentors. Jessica then intuitively carves the clay to bring out the specific energy surrounding this creation. During this process, an energetic’ name emerges.
We carry that name through the Raku ‘birthing through fire’ process in which the wall sculpture is taken out of a red hot 1800° kiln and placed in a can of combustibles. Immediately the heart ignites, and fire swirls around the form. Smoke leaves its mark in unique, interesting patterns as it calms and cools. During the finishing process, many of the hearts are adorned with crystals.
Heart feels like a gentle breeze made visible — a white form adorned with flowing horsehair and soft pastel chakra stones that shimmer as she moves. She feels light and bright, never heavy or slow, her presence fresh and quietly uplifting. Simple and caring, she doesn’t need to do anything to change a room; just being there softens the air and brings a sense of ease. She is movement, clarity, and kindness woven together.
