‘Compassion’ is hand-sculpted clay.

The sculptor Deborah Gall creates the heart with her hands from stoneware clay. Once formed, she passes the wet clay to Jessica, whom she mentors. Jessica then intuitively carves the clay to bring out the specific energy surrounding this creation. During this process, an energetic’ name emerges.

We carry that name through the Raku ‘birthing through fire’ process in which the wall sculpture is taken out of a red hot 1800° kiln and placed in a can of combustibles. Immediately the heart ignites, and fire swirls around the form. Smoke leaves its mark in unique, interesting patterns as it calms and cools.

She feels like a heart made of many translucent layers — an aura that expands outward, each ring holding its own gifts and its own challenges. As you move inward, the layers soften, revealing a depth of soul that isn’t immediately visible. At her very center rests a single stone: precious, beautiful, and profoundly valuable. She feels like something slowly uncovered over time, a truth waiting to be discovered, celebrated, and finally liberated.
