‘Intensity’ is hand-sculpted clay.

The sculptor Deborah Gall creates the heart with her hands from stoneware clay. Once formed, she passes the wet clay to Jessica, whom she mentors. Jessica then intuitively carves the clay to bring out the specific energy surrounding this creation. During this process, an energetic’ name emerges.

We carry that name through the Raku ‘birthing through fire’ process in which the wall sculpture is taken out of a red hot 1800° kiln and placed in a can of combustibles. Immediately the heart ignites, and fire swirls around the form. Smoke leaves its mark in unique, interesting patterns as it calms and cools.

Intensity feels like a heart forged in battle — black, heavily textured, strong in a way that comes from surviving. Down his center is a deep cut, gaping but being sewn back together with thick cords, each stitch a testament to endurance. More cords wrap around him like a puzzle reassembled, showing the work it took to stay whole. He feels bold and masculine, a warrior who has fought hard and still stands. Protective, unwavering, alive — he carries the energy of someone who has been through fire and now uses his strength to guard what he loves.
